Upon opening there is a strong material smell so i opened it up and let it air out for like a week or so. Now I find Clementine just hanging out in there I don’t think she realizes it’s a carrier and thinks its just another bed. I like this because her last carrier (a hard case) she would only ever be in there when forced for a vet visit or long drive to someplace.Haven’t used this for the vet or any sort of “traveling” like that but I put her in there to move her from one room to the next while there were maintenance people in the house. It is a soft bottom so it does sink when you lift it. The handle doesn’t cut into your hand by design since it is a soft leather of sorts. I put Clam in from the top so that the carrier retains its form while I’m working with the cat. It’s nice that it opens from both ends too (3 total entry points).I keep the carrier out so that Clementine can come hang out when she wants. Every so often I zip up the open door and turn it around so that the carrier keeps shape. The edge of the zip is sort of reinforced so when the “door” is shut its held up very well and when it is open it slightly slouches a bit but is still upright. This shows in the photo better than I can describe.The water bowl looked really cool but I haven’t used it yet. I let that air out and washed it after. If I end up using it I will also wash prior to use. The material smell is very strong here too when you open it.The bed mat inside is very soft and has a zipper so the casing can be washed. The whole thing can be taken out but has velcro in the middle to hold the mat in place. The rough side is on the bottom of the carrier so not ideal for using it without the mat. Wish the rough side of the velcro was on the bottom of the mat instead so it would just be an odd soft spot to lay on when the mat is removed. It has a platform of sorts? Inside the bottom of the mat (for antileak peeing protection I think). Clam really likes how it feels laying on this bed.It isn’t too intimidating for her to approach.
